Listen In to the
“Love Song for My Soul” that Jesus sings in the Beatitudes
The still small voice of the Father speaks to His beloved children through the words of the Beatitudes. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. These are words that speak to the hearts of each one of us, who often need a reminder of God’s infinite love for us.
Though the melody unfolds gently with piano arpeggios and a sustained bass, it quickly builds with the addition of cymbals and percussion, while Saval’s lyrics hearken back to the still small voice that spoke to Elijah in the wilderness. It uplifts the soul to contemplate the incomprehensible love of God and the gentleness He uses to speak. The first chorus opens with Ryan’s powerful proclamation of the Beatitudes, and the two begin to alternate between verse and chorus, finally intertwining their melodies to create an impressive build that engages the heart in praise.
The incredibly memorable melody will cement the promises of the Beatitudes in the minds and hearts of listeners, and thereby serve as a valuable accompaniment for prayer and reflection. As with many of Saval’s pieces, the delicate balance of intense inspiration and gentle consolation creates a totally unique listening experience.
This piece marks a cross-continental collaboration between Saval and Ryan. Through this project, the artists have achieved their goal of glorifying the Lord through music, all thanks to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Keep an eye out for future collaborations between these two up and coming artists!
Song lyrics
Your still small voice whispers to me
A Love song for my soul.
Your still small voice whispers to me
A Love song for my soul.
I hear it roar in my spirit!
I feel it rush into my heart!
I hear it roar in my spirit!
I feel it lead me into your arms.
Then You’ll sing to me…
This Love song for my soul.
[C]
Blessed are the poor in spirit
for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
[and] Blessed are they who mourn
for they will be comforted.
[and] Blessed are the meek
for they will inherit the land.
[and] Blessed are they who hunger and thirst
For righteousness
For they will be satisfied.
[V2]
I hear it roar in my spirit!
I feel it rush into my heart!
I hear it roar in my spirit!
I can’t wait for eternity to start.
Then You’ll sing to me…
This Love song for my soul.
[C2]
Blessed are the merciful…
they will be shown mercy.
[and] Blessed are the clean of heart…
they will see God.
[and] Blessed are the peacemakers…
they’ll be called children of God.
[and] Blessed are the persecuted
for the sake of righteousness…
theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
[V3]
Your still small voice whispers to me
A Love song for my soul.
Your still small voice whispers to me
A Love song for my soul.
[B]
Blessed are the poor in spirit
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.
[and] Blessed are they who mourn
for they will be comforted.
[and] Blessed are the meek [I hear it roar in my spirit… background vocals]
for they will inherit the land.
and Blessed are they who hunger and thirst
For righteousness…
[For they will be satisfied, not sung]
Blessed are the merciful…
they will be shown mercy.
[and] Blessed are the clean of heart…
they will see God.
[and] Blessed are the peacemakers…
they’ll be called children of God.
[and] Blessed are the persecuted
for the sake of righteousness…
theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
